Custom Product & Measurement Policy

Clark Outdoor Living screen systems are custom-made products manufactured to the dimensions, configuration, fabric, finish, and operating options selected for each project. Because each system is built specifically for the customer's openings, accurate measurements and careful review of the final configuration are essential before an order is released to production.

Customer-provided measurements

Unless Clark Outdoor Living expressly agrees in writing to provide measurement services, the customer is responsible for providing accurate opening dimensions.

Measurements should be taken using the current Clark Outdoor Living Measurement Guide and entered exactly as requested in the Build & Price configurator.

Customers should not make assumptions about deductions, clearances, mounting allowances, or finished product dimensions unless specifically instructed to do so by Clark.

Measure each opening individually

Even when multiple openings appear identical, customers should measure each opening separately.

Construction tolerances, framing differences, posts, trim, flooring, headers, and other conditions can cause openings that appear identical to differ in actual size.

Each screen will be manufactured according to the dimensions associated with that specific opening.

Width and height

Customers should verify both the width and height of every opening before submitting an order.

Where the Measurement Guide instructs customers to take measurements at multiple points, the customer should follow those instructions and use the appropriate measurement specified by the guide.

Do not round measurements unless the Clark measurement process specifically instructs you to do so.

Photographs and project information

Clark may allow or request customers to upload photographs of their openings, mounting surfaces, patio structure, electrical conditions, or surrounding areas.

Photographs can help Clark identify potential issues, but they do not replace accurate measurements.

A Clark review of photographs or project information does not automatically transfer responsibility for customer-provided dimensions to Clark.

Clark specification review

Paid orders are not automatically released into production immediately after checkout.

Clark may review the submitted configuration before manufacturing begins.

This review may include:

  • Dimensions and proportions
  • Number of openings
  • Manual or motorized selections
  • Fabric and finish selections
  • Screen configuration
  • Shipping considerations
  • Apparent mounting or clearance concerns
  • Other information supplied with the order

If something appears unusual or unclear, Clark may contact the customer for clarification, additional measurements, photographs, or other information.

The purpose of this review is to identify obvious concerns where reasonably possible. It is not a professional site inspection and does not guarantee that every condition at the property can be identified remotely.

Final customer approval

Before production begins, the customer is responsible for confirming that the dimensions, quantities, operation types, colors, fabrics, and other selected options shown on the order are correct.

Once an order has been approved and released into production, it cannot be canceled, and changes may no longer be possible.

Made-to-order products

Clark screen systems are manufactured specifically for each customer's project.

For that reason, products manufactured correctly according to the measurements and selections submitted by the customer generally cannot be returned, exchanged, or refunded because:

  • The customer entered an incorrect measurement
  • The opening changed after the order was placed
  • The customer selected the wrong color, fabric, openness level, or operation type
  • The product does not fit because of an undisclosed obstruction or property condition
  • The customer changes their mind after production begins

These situations are different from a product that was manufactured incorrectly, arrived damaged, or has a covered warranty issue.

See the Returns & Cancellations Policy for how cancellations and returns are handled.

Measurement errors

If a product is manufactured correctly to the dimensions submitted with the order but does not fit because those dimensions were incorrect, the customer is generally responsible for the cost of replacement or modification, including applicable freight.

Clark will work with the customer to determine what corrective options may be available, but a customer measurement error does not automatically entitle the customer to a free remake or refund.

Clark manufacturing or order errors

If Clark or its manufacturing process produces a screen that materially differs from the dimensions or configuration accepted on the customer's final order, Clark will evaluate the issue and provide an appropriate remedy.

Depending on the circumstances, that may include repair, replacement components, remake, or another reasonable solution.

Customers should notify Clark promptly and provide photographs, measurements, and other information reasonably needed to evaluate the issue.

Manufacturing tolerances

Custom manufactured products may have reasonable production tolerances.

Minor variations that fall within applicable manufacturing tolerances do not necessarily constitute a defect or manufacturing error.

Specific tolerance information applicable to a product may be provided with product documentation or during project review.

Mounting conditions

Customers are responsible for making sure the installation area is suitable for the selected screen system.

Relevant conditions may include:

  • Structural framing
  • Header and post surfaces
  • Level and plumb conditions
  • Trim
  • Gutters
  • Doors
  • Windows
  • Railings
  • Counters
  • Flooring
  • Electrical fixtures
  • Furniture or equipment
  • Other obstructions

The Build & Price tool cannot evaluate every physical condition at a property.

If you are uncertain about mounting conditions, use Have Clark Review My Project before placing or approving the order.

Motorized systems

Motorized screen systems require a hardwired 120-volt supply. They are not plug-in.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that required electrical work is performed safely and in accordance with applicable instructions, codes, and local requirements.

Where professional electrical work is required, customers should use a qualified electrician.

Installation

Unless expressly included in a separate written agreement, Clark's online screen pricing is supply-only.

Customers may install products themselves where appropriate or hire a qualified local contractor or tradesperson.

Clark is not responsible for installation work performed by unaffiliated third parties.

Changes after measurement

Patio construction should be sufficiently complete before final screen measurements are submitted.

Changes to posts, headers, flooring, framing, trim, countertops, finishes, or other surrounding construction after measurements are taken may affect screen fit.

If construction changes after an order is placed, contact Clark immediately. Changes may be possible before production begins but cannot be made once production has begun.
